After winter, the Came ZM1 automatic gate at a private residence began malfunctioning: It opens 30–40 cm, stops, and then jerks forward several times until it either opens completely or stops in the middle. Sometimes it refuses to close at all. The mechanics are clean and nothing is jammed. It has a Came ZM1 control unit.

What could it be? Are there any instructions for the Came ZM1 anywhere?

How long ago did you install them? Came is generally a good Italian manufacturer, but this is a common problem with this board. I repair gate automation systems, and most often, the problem isn't with the motor. First, read the user manual for CAME ZM1 and check the traction force and auto-learning settings. If that doesn't help, take it in for repair. They will check the board with a tester. There are several possible issues: the force may be incorrectly set after temperature changes, the relays on the board may be stuck, or the power supply capacitors may be dried out. In the latter case, the controller "loses" power, causing the movement to become jerky.
